The ramp to the Clingman's Dome Observatory engulfed in fog. Actual visibility was about 25 feet at this point.
You would think that damaging a sign in a national park would be a federal offence. Frankly, all it caused was curiousity among most people as to how someone could reach over and carve their name on a metal sign that is about 7 feet away from the rails. The signs all need to be replaced, however.
Somewhere on the Clingman's Dome trail to the observatory, I found this creepy site. Kind of looks like a set a B-Horror Film, doesn't it?
Somewhere on Clingman's Dome along the trail to the observatory. It's creepier in person, as there was not a sound in the air and no wind blowing at the time.
In case you are wondering about the scale, that's about 30 feet in front of me before all I saw was fog. Farther up the trail, visibility got to be no more than 20 feet at best.
From what I remember, this is the drain for the upper area of the Newfound Gap Look Out. When it rains, it creates a fountain that empties into a storm drain that empties into a creek somewhere down the mountain.
The morning fog just adds to the beauty of the Smoky Mountains, as well as give it their name.
The only shot out of several at this stop that didn't come out too blurry for my taste.
I'm a bit surprised how well that turned out. Looks way too professional for someone that was on vacation and thought the sign looked cute.
My Black & White Photo I teacher is going to kill me if he find out that I shot this while aiming directly into the sun through that tree.
The dawn as seen from our first-floor balcony
And the best part is this location is still up and running!
Not so much a Factory as it is an Outlet Mall. But, hell, most of the stores had up to 75% off anything in their inventory!
One of many mini-golf courses that line the main road of Pigeon Forge, each trying to out-do the other. We didn't play. We just looked.
If you click on the image, you'll be brought to the host page on flickr. There you will see some notes I put in, such as the book my sister is reading and what was on the end table next to my dad.
I find it very uncomfortable that we had to pass this on are way to and from Dollywood. It's kind of a bad sign, you know? And accross the street from this is a resort hotel and golf course.
Hey, that's what the sign said when I took its picture!
A foundry melting metal and what appears to be a ruined melting pot of metal. I wonder what happened to cause such a mess.
It feels kind of creepy how this bald eagle is glowing in this picture, but when I took this picture, it was in the shade. It was the closest I'll ever get to such a huge bird of prey, but at the same time it made me sad to see it locked up in a netted aviary for people to stare at and take pictures of. Why I took a picture myself, I don't know. Still, I'm glad I did, or else I wouldn't have something this strange, this beautiful, and yet so sad at the same time.
The first think you see upon entering where the queue starts. And the last thing I'll see of the ride I'll never ride thanks to Mother Nature.
The sign of the ride I will never ride thanks to a thunder storm.
I think I caught a ghost on film! Or maybe I just shot this at a bad angle and into the light.
This is what happens when you try to take a picture while the line is moving with a disposible camera in a queue that is designed for a single-file line.
I thought i was funny how this was right next to the restrooms. I had to get a shot of it.
It's not a ride. It's a 3D IMAX movie with moving chairs.
I kind of wish this wasn't in a theme park, but if I didn't tell you, you would know.
This car ride had a very funny loading station. It looks like a car dealership from the era the area is themed to. The ironic thing is, if you look hard enough, you can find real dealership buildings that look like this.
Yes, that's from the back of the line. Yes, it was that long. No, I'm not kidding.
This isn't with a wide-angle lens. The area dead ends at an area where the tracks wrap around in a cup-like formation. Incidently, this is also the smoking area.
These actually work. For a quarter, you can actually get a showering of water for about 30 seconds. Great for cooling off during a hot day, as well as the usual tourist photo spot.
These are scattered all over the Thunderhead Gap area of Dollywood. Some actually house birds!
Someone really needs to clean up the facade of this building. Or at least the railing.
A stray cat came by and decided he was going to cool off in our first-floor balcony despite the whole "No Pets Allowed" sign. Thankfully, the balcony in our room is screened off from bugs, so it never got in.
Flowers from a rather pathetic looking landscaping in front of a hotel we were staying at. Seriously, the plant looked like it was dying.
